Inside my
HELLO!
My name is Raúl, and I am originally from a small town in the Spanish south. When I was 18 I was fascinated by the difficulties in reconciling gravitation and quantum mechanics, and decided that I wanted to become a theoretical physicist. Since then I have been devoted to carving an impact in this research area. I highly value curiosity, originality and depth in research, and I strive to embody these qualities in my daily academic life.

My Journey Into Theoretical Physics
1. Undergraduate
2006-2011
Started studying in the University of Seville and later the Complutense University of Madrid, graduating with honors and receiving a National Award for Excellence in Academic Performance.
2. PhD
2011-2016
Was awarded a highly competitive JAE-PRE fellowship and moved to Granada to join IAA, a research center of the most prestigious research institution in Spain.
3. Postdoc
2016-2025
Joined several groups as a postdoc in four different countries in three different continents, publishing innovative research in top journals and maturing as a researcher.
4. RyC
2025-Present
Was awarded a Ramón y Cajal 5-year tenure track contract aimed at outstanding mid-career researchers in foreign countries to return to Spain, and secured one of the highly-sought (7% of the total available positions) full-research positions at CSIC centres.
